LIC Russia (Lasers. Optics. Electronics)'2005. Feedback of exhibition participants
Ernst Shikhalev, Assistant Research Manager on Laser Subject, Institute of Theoretical and Practical Mechanics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences: I present a group of companies from Novosibirsk, specialized in creation and introduction of laser equipment. This exhibition is quite beneficial for us, and we are not 1st-year participants here as we always find new partners and consumers, though our scientific equipment is known worldwide and we have no problems with sales. Nowadays requirements to the laser equipment safety are rather high, so we are also in need of top-quality componentry. All these problems find their solution at LIC RUSSIA exhibition. Everything new doesn’t step on a well-trodden path, anyway, lasers are getting more required. We would like to do justice to the Laser Association – for over 15 years it has put much effort into informational and educational work, appealing to LIC RUSSIA as a commercial business hub where customers not only buy those products, offered by developers, but also express their own technical requirements. Our clients are of a high professional level, it’s pleasant to deal with them. Dmitry Solovianov, Deputy Director General for Laser Technologies and Metallurgy, BULAT Ltd.: We offer solid-state lasers, applied in cutting operations and welding works. Visitors of LIC RUSSIA are excited about this event. There are representatives of the former military and industrial complex, who ask about enterprises using laser technologies. We were made some business offers, which open a perspective and long-term activity for us. Many people doubt how such a small company could display modern samples of laser equipment for a short period of time. We brought unique things, for example, laser welding equipment for glass-made products, as the exhibition is the right way to advertise our goods and promote them to the market. We are firm in our opinion that these technologies are irreplaceable at present. Sergey Tikhonov, Director of Evaporation Sector, Department of Internal Economical Relations, IZOVAK Ltd.: IZOVAK is involved in researches and manufacture of vacuum equipment for optical and functional coatings. We participate in this exhibition for the 2nd time as last year we found customers and, inspired by great results, we made a decision to come to Sokolniki again. And another reason was advertising of our novelty – Ortus installation. The traffic to the stand is good: we see that our wares are in demand; the only thing, which makes them hesitate, is lack of finance. But renovation topic is in the forefront as optical manufacture is still using installations of the 60s. Modern manufacturing process needs complete automation. Some LIC RUSSIA participants and visitors were surprised and pleased to see our company at the market and exhibition. Dmitry Sapozhnikov, Junior Research Assistant, International Laser Centre of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov: Our International Laser Centre exposes some developments, worked out in our laboratories. Taking part in the exhibition, we realize that laser equipment experiences an ever-increasing demand. The visitors seem to be very interested in our stand as they are active in asking questions and taking much information material. It’s evident that a laser pointer is likely to be sold rather than laser installation, but it’s important to be aware of the sales process. Over a total of 7 years we have sold 5 laser installations, whereas the world sales volume makes up only 70 items. We hope to get orders after LIC RUSSIA. Many people got interested in our optical scanner. This is a universal device, which is applied in medical researches of body organs’ structure, skin or bone thickness and tissue heterogeneity, or in aviation industry when controlling materials joining quality. But lasers can be used in other industries as well. I think we will participate in the exhibition every year. Jury Konstantinov, Deputy Director, LAGEN Experimental Research Construction & Technological Laboratory: It’s the 4th time we come to Sokolniki. For us LIC RUSSIA is a so-called laser get-together, which shows the level of the domestic laser industry. Every year we hear that the science is about to die, but the number of exhibitors doesn’t decrease, on the contrary, another tendency is taking place. We are content to communicate with laser specialists in a friendly atmosphere. It’s a question of prestige to present your company at LIC RUSSIA as it has become a distinctive brand. Due to this fact, application area of laser equipment is getting larger. We demonstrated laser components, power supply units, and emitters. This exhibition enables to reflect a real state of the domestic laser industry and persuade the customers that goods are not worth buying abroad as it’s one of the numerous sectors, which is quite profitable for Russia. Laser equipment should find a remarkable place in the Russian economy. [Monday, March 28, 2005]
